For a while now I’ve been keen to experiment with darker, moodier portraits. One evening this image poped into my head and I was so excited to try and create it that I had to shoot it in my kitchen that very night.

I had one Elinchrom BXRi 250 camera left pointing down at a 45 degree angle to provide the key. I wanted to feather the light so that only the edge of the light caught my subjects face to it was aimed just in front of her, pointing at the ground. Next I added a SB800 in the back left corner to provide the a kick of light on the side of her face. Lastly I placed a SB700 in the back of the kitchen to bring out some of the detail in the background.
